Who is this website for?

This conference was, and this website now is, a great training opportunity for all child and family practitioners, child protection workers, youth justice workers, health professionals and educators. We all need to be trauma informed, FASD informed, and human rights informed if we are to prevent youth crime and youth detention. FASD (fetal alcohol spectrum disorder) is two and a half times more prevalent than autism – we just don’t recognise it. If a child can do well, they will do well. Those who are affected by trauma and/or cognitive disabilities need help and support not judgment and exclusion. At September’s conference we heard from national and international experts, psychiatrists, paediatricians, professors, researchers, and lawyers. We also heard from trauma counsellors and people with lived experience.

Our video page now hosts the recordings of the presentations at the conference, as the speakers have generously allowed us to make them available to everyone. See Videos.
